Prevent the effect of future typhoons
After the massive clearing of forests in Mindanao, erosion removes the topsoil. Typhoons and heavy rains make rivers out of their banks, devastating fields and villages as they have no retention of forest. Each year a typhoon devastates Philippines. This local initiative is supported by an extensive program of government to prevent effects of typhoons.
